The second half of our day involved making birdseed treats for our feathered friends outside! We love feeding all of the birds, and this project seemed perfect!
Jack and I mixed up some birdseed, water and gelatin and filled up cupcake tins. We used a straw in each one to make a hole for the string to go through after! Popped them in the refrigerator for about an hour, strung some string through the hole and they were ready to go! Jack was pretty excited that we were going to hang them up in the pine trees outside to watch the birds from the playroom!
We stop at the pet store a lot, Madison loves visiting the animals! I love the bird feeders too! Did you use a special recipe for them? I would love to make some with Madison for the first day of spring!
ReplyDeleteMix 4 packets of Knox unflavored gelatin with a cup of water, then heat on low heat until dissolved. Add 1 1/2 cups of bird food and stir until well coated. I used muffin tins, and stuck a section of a straw in each for a string hole. Stick the muffin tins in the refrigerator for about an hour until they are firm...loosen with a knife to pop out, add string, and voila! It made six of them!
